About the Role

The Material Master Data – Team Lead is responsible for leading end-to-end Material Master Data operations across Global and Emerging Markets (EM). The role ensures data accuracy, consistency, governance, and compliance across SAP/ERP systems to support supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, quality, finance, and commercial processes.

This position plays a key role in standardization, team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement within a global master data operating model.

Key Responsibilities

• Material Master Data Leadership & Operations
• Lead, manage, and coach a team responsible for Material Master Data across Global and EM regions.
• Oversee end-to-end material creation, extension, change, and governance across plants, sales orgs, and legal entities.
• Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of product-related master data across the entire portfolio in scope.
• Act as the single point of escalation for material master–related issues and critical business impacts.
• Drive workload prioritization to balance business urgency and data quality.

SAP / ERP Master Data Management

• Define, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material master management.
• Ensure data adequacy, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls, SOX/GxP, and audit requirements.
• Provide first-level support for SAP Material Master–related issues and coordinate escalations with IT and global support teams.
• Support user access management and ensure role-based controls for master data activities.
• Actively contribute to SAP S/4HANA, MDG, and digital transformation initiatives.

Governance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor and report Material Master KPIs (accuracy, turnaround time, rework, audit findings).
• Partner with Data Governance, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment.
• Lead process harmonization across Global and EM regions.
• Identify and implement automation and simplification opportunities to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Support new product launches, system migrations, and regional expansions from a master data perspective.

About You

• 7+ years of experience in Material Master Data or Supply Chain Master Data within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP ERP / SAP S/4HANA (Material Master views across Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and Commercial).
• Proven experience leading teams in a global or multi-region operating model.
• Strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and audit controls.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working in global and emerging market environments is highly desirable.
