The main purpose of the Engineering Sustainability Project Manager is to drive the delivery of the site De-carbonisation project. This project is a large value strategic project to remove gas from the site as a process fuel source. The outcome of which will reduce the carbon footprint and provide energy savings to the site.
Whilst the De-carbonisation project is the main focus for this role, the role will also deliver other minor projects during the course of the contract. The drivers for the other projects will vary from sustainability to continuous improvement type projects. The position will co-ordinate with various site functions, suppliers, contractors, external bodies etc to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

Main responsibilities:

 Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the site’s De-carbonisation project. Oversee all aspects of the project, including:

  • Contract Management: Engage and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors to ensure terms are met.

  •  Scope Management: Define and control the scope to prevent scope creep and ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Cost Management: Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and within limits.

  • Schedule Management: Develop and manage the project timeline, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.

  • Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, while capitalizing on opportunities.

  •  Internal and External Communication: Ensure timely and effective communication with all stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

  • Management of Onsite Works: Supervise contractors and oversee onsite work to ensure it adheres to the project plan.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with various site functions, managing team dynamics to ensure optimal motivation and performance.

  • Project De-briefs: Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and identify opportunities for future improvement

  • Lead the identification and development of new projects aimed at improving sustainability practices on site (e.g., water conservation, energy efficiency).

  • Research and recommend new technologies or methods to reduce environmental impact and improve site sustainability

  • Manage a variety of Continuous Improvement (CI) projects, ranging from process or equipment performance improvements to minor site works projects.

  • Ensure that all CI projects align with the company’s sustainability and operational efficiency goals

  •  Ensure all project deliverables meet the required quality standards and adhere to both internal policies and external regulatory requirements

  •  Actively engage in identifying and implementing strategies to improve site quality compliance and enhance project outcomes

  • Oversee adherence to relevant Workplace Health and Safety standards, ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with industry regulations.

  • Ensure all projects are delivered in accordance with the relevant Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards and Sanofi safety protocols

  • Actively monitor safety risks and ensure appropriate measures are in place to maintain a safe working environment during project execution


About you

Qualifications: 


•    Bachelors degree in an engineering field ie. Mechanical or similar preferred
•    Electrical Qualifications and knowledge an advantage

Experience:

  • Proven background in successful delivery in multi-million dollar projects such as the Decarbonisation Project

  • In depth knowledge of HVAC as well as other key utilities such as chilled water, hot water, steam boilers is essential. Experience in implementation of heat pumps is desirable

Soft Skills & Technical Skills: 

  • HVAC, chilled water and hydraulic systems

  •  Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies 

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • People skills to manage contractors and internal collaboration
