Job Description:

The Pharmacy Logistics Coordinator manages prescriptions for shipment, processes shipping labels, schedules and tracks timely delivery of all packages, including assistance with specialty pharmacy scripts. In addition, the logistics coordinator manages the point of sale (transactions) including the reception of patients calling in or presenting at the pharmacy to pick up medications. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Packages prescriptions according to SOP and URAC standard. Verify each shipment for completeness.
  • Complete daily 14-day report and shipment paperwork by end of day.
  • Tracks daily delivery reports and follows up on any delivery exceptions. Submits claims to shipping vendor on an as needed basis.
  • Assists in Specialty Script Tracking by contacting Specialty pharmacies by either phone/email to confirm receipt of forwarded prescriptions and obtains shipping information to update delivery notes into EMR system.
  •  Operates POS, collects co-payments at time of service and manages daily cash receipts.
  • Stocks and maintains all shipping and office supplies in work area weekly and as needed.
  • Accurately package, ship/courier, and track REMs prescriptions.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service. Responds promptly to patient, physician and clinical requests.
  • Greets all patients, visitors, and vendors entering the pharmacy in a timely and courteous fashion.
  • Answers the telephones and greets patients in a courteous, efficient manner. Routes phone calls or schedules patient education call backs as appropriate.
  • Calls patients and manages delivery exceptions to ensure accurate delivery of medications.
  • File and maintain prescriptions and records related to shipping.
  • Insure all prescription baskets are scan into correct bins by end of each day.
  • Inter team communication to relay shipping issues.
  • Collects protected health information for disposal weekly for vendor.
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned by supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Good verbal, written, and computer communication skills.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with GED.
  • 3 years’ work experience
  • Obtain Tennessee pharmacy registration within 90 days of hire.

Tennessee Oncology’s in house pharmacy, Park Pharmacy, stocks oncology and hematology medications not readily available at community retail pharmacies. A URAC accredited Specialty Pharmacy, Park provides insurance and benefits investigation, prior authorization services for insurance coverage, co-pay assistance through manufacturer or foundation programs, extensive medication education, and access to a pharmacist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
