Hematology Oncology Associates was established in Palm Beach County over 35 years ago, and has grown to include 10 Board Certified Hematologist and Oncologists and 6 Nurse Practitioners in 3 convenient locations within our community. Our goals are to provide state of the art cancer treatments with a high level of compassionate care in a warm inviting environment. We also specialize in treatment of coagulation blood disorders, leukemias and other hematologic benign conditions. Job Description:

  • Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds
  • Promotes accuracy and efficiency in obtaining medical records from outside facilities and assures that the patient signs the proper record release forms according to HIPAA guidelines
  • Retrieves documents to be scanned into EMR from physicians, nurses, and any other departments regularly
  • Scans information into the appropriate section of the EMR.
  • Check for patient identifying information on all documents to ensure information is being entered into the correct patient’s chart
  • Prepare New Patient Packets promptly before patient appointment; if additional records are needed, fill out the appropriate record request form and fax to the referring physician or call their office if needed urgently
  • Handle all incoming medical records requests, such as subpoenas, law offices, disability information requests, as well as, payment for records. STAT requests to be done as a priority; all others to be done within 3- 5 days
  • Retrieve medical records throughout the day for the physicians/medical assistants as needed
  • Maintains master patient and record availability by scanning and organizing in EMR
  • Retrieves medical records by following office procedures; documents reasons charts cannot be retrieved for statistical and follow-up purposes
  • Delivers archived charts to physicians as requested
  • Keeps health care providers informed by communicating the availability or unavailability of the record
  • Maintains quality results by following office standards
  • Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
  • Pull and organize charts as needed for special audits
  • Purge paper charts as required by practice to be sent to offsite storage
  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, office policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements and standards
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Travels to satellite locations and floats to other clinics if needed

Tennessee Oncology’s in house pharmacy, Park Pharmacy, stocks oncology and hematology medications not readily available at community retail pharmacies. A URAC accredited Specialty Pharmacy, Park provides insurance and benefits investigation, prior authorization services for insurance coverage, co-pay assistance through manufacturer or foundation programs, extensive medication education, and access to a pharmacist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
