Job Description:

Multi physician oncology practice seeking an experienced back office Medical Assistant capable of multi-tasking and providing compassionate patient care with a smile to add to our team. Must be able to perform in a busy environment, able to prioritize and re-prioritize as day progresses.

Travel may be required.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Ensure patient satisfaction by providing excellent patients services. Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
  • Rooms patients, accurately collect and records patients’ vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns.
  • Prepares exam rooms, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Effectively assists with prescriptions refill requests.
  • Triage messages, routes and relays information to staff, providers, and patients in a timely manner.
  • Maintains detailed notes in patients’ electronic records.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality for patients in accordance to HIPAA standards.
  • Effectively maintains a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and physicians at all times.
  • Back up infusion room medical assistant duties (venipuncture, injections, vitals, etc.).
  • Effectively performs other duties as assigned

Experience, Qualifications, Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited education institution.
  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license a plus.
  • Three years of work experience in venipuncture.
  • Must comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and office policies and protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer/telephone support, preferably in a health care environment.
  • Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer processing functions and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Visual acuity to read a computer screen and paper documents; close and distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing acuity to converse with staff and customers in person and by phone.
  • ability to stoop, bend, kneel, reach with hands, and lift and move 10 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 25 pounds occasionally; ability to sit for hours at a time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour

Tennessee Oncology’s in house pharmacy, Park Pharmacy, stocks oncology and hematology medications not readily available at community retail pharmacies. A URAC accredited Specialty Pharmacy, Park provides insurance and benefits investigation, prior authorization services for insurance coverage, co-pay assistance through manufacturer or foundation programs, extensive medication education, and access to a pharmacist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
