About this role

Job Summary:

The Director, Network Architecture serves as both the people and technical leader for OmniFiber's broadband architecture organization. This role bridges product strategy and network execution by translating business objectives into scalable, reliable, and operationally sound network designs. The Director provides architectural authority across access, transport, and core domains while mentoring high-performing technical teams. This position plays a critical role in enabling OmniFiber's growth through innovative, future-ready network solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Access/OLT engineers and network architects, providing technical guidance, career development, and architectural decision support.
  • Translate business and product requirements (e.g., multi-gigabit service offerings) into high-level network designs, golden configurations, lab validations, and engineering handoff documentation.
  • Serve as architectural authority across broadband access, transport, and IP core networks to ensure cohesive, scalable, and secure designs.
  • Evaluate vendor platforms and solutions through lab testing, proofs of concept, and architectural assessments to ensure alignment with performance, reliability, and operational standards.
  • Partner with executive leadership, prioritization teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to scope initiatives, assess dependencies, and define delivery timelines.
  • Maintain an "upside-down leadership" philosophy by empowering teams, removing obstacles, resolving conflicts, and enabling technical excellence without micromanagement.
  • Guide greenfield network builds and large-scale upgrades by establishing architectural standards, design frameworks, and technical governance.
  • Communicate technical strategy, risks, and progress clearly to leadership while maintaining strong feedback loops with engineering and operations teams.

  • Demonstrated success leading and mentoring engineers and architects in highly technical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and managing performance metrics and KPIs, overseeing budgets, and driving projects, systems, and operational outcomes aligned to financial and business objectives.
  • Strong experience with lab testing, proof-of-concept development, and vendor evaluations.
  • Deep understanding of project scoping, prioritization, and delivery in fast-paced technical organizations.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for executives, peers, and engineering teams.
