<p><strong>Position</strong>: Wayleave Engineer / Site Engineer<br><strong>Location</strong>: Site-based (UK-wide travel required)<br><strong>Reports To</strong>: Site and Project Managers<br><strong>Employment Type</strong>: Full-time, Permanent</p><h2><strong>Overview</strong></h2><p>We require a proactive and adaptable Wayleave Engineer / Site Engineer to join our team delivering overhead line (OHL) transmission schemes across the UK. This is a unique dual role that blends wayleave and access negotiation with hands-on site engineering responsibilities, providing critical support in enabling and executing high-voltage construction works.</p><h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2><h3><strong>Wayleave / Access Engineering</strong></h3><ul><li><strong></strong><p>Engage with landowners, tenants, agents, local authorities, and statutory bodies to secure necessary wayleave agreements, access rights, and consents.</p></li><li><p>Conduct site visits and assessments to identify access constraints, environmental sensitivities, and land use impacts.</p></li><li><p>Support in resolving landowner concerns, disputes, and compensation discussions, in coordination with client Wayleave Officers.</p></li><li><p>Maintain accurate records of wayleave status, correspondence, access agreements, and engagement logs.</p></li><li><p>Liaise with the client’s wayleave, legal, and environmental teams to ensure alignment with scheme requirements.</p></li><li><p>Contribute to access strategy development and route planning from a construction logistics perspective.</p></li></ul><h3><strong>Site Engineering Support</strong></h3><ul><li><strong></strong><p>Assist the Site and Project Managers and wider project team in the delivery of construction works, including surveys, setting out, and quality assurance.</p></li><li><p>Provide technical support to construction teams during piling, tower erection, stringing, and commissioning phases.</p></li><li><p>Monitor site progress, prepare method statements and risk assessments, and assist in producing as-built records.</p></li><li><p>Ensure compliance with HSEQ standards, environmental constraints, and temporary works requirements.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and utility companies on-site.</p></li></ul><h2><strong>Key Skills &amp; Experience</strong></h2><ul><li><strong></strong><p>Proven experience in wayleave/access negotiation or civil/site engineering within the utilities, power transmission, or infrastructure sectors.</p></li><li><p>Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including the general public.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of UK legislation related to land access, planning, and environmental consents.</p></li><li><p>Good understanding of OHL construction techniques and sequencing (132kV – 400kV preferred).</p></li><li><p>Competency in reading technical drawings, maps, and land registry plans.</p></li><li><p>CSCS card and full UK driving licence required.</p></li></ul><h2><strong>Desirable Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li><strong></strong><p>Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering, Land Management, Environmental Management, or a related field.</p></li><li><p>Experience with GIS or CAD software.</p></li><li><p>National Grid Person / BESC / Person Competent (desirable, but training can be provided).</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with National Grid TGN and TP documents or other DNO/TO standards.</p></li></ul><h2><strong>Personal Attributes</strong></h2><ul><li><p>Self-motivated and able to manage own workload and prioritise effectively.</p></li><li><p>Professional and diplomatic in landowner and stakeholder engagement.</p></li><li><p>Flexible and comfortable working in rural, remote, or challenging environments.</p></li><li><p>A team player with a willingness to adapt to changing project needs.</p></li></ul><h2><strong>What We Offer</strong></h2><ul><li><strong></strong><p>Competitive salary based on experience.</p></li><li><p>Company vehicle.</p></li><li><p>Paid travel and subsistence for site work.</p></li><li><p>Opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects.</p></li><li><p>Ongoing training and career development opportunities.</p></li></ul>
