<p style="text-align:center;"><br>Senior Quantity Surveyor – Job Description</p><hr><h3>Job Details</h3><ul><li><p><strong>Job Title:</strong> Senior Quantity Surveyor</p></li><li><p><strong>Business Unit:</strong> MPN</p></li><li><p><strong>Reporting to:</strong> Regional Commercial Manager / Managing QS</p></li></ul><hr><h3>Role Purpose</h3><p>The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role within Omexom’s Major Projects North Business Unit, leading commercial activities across multiple projects. This role involves strategic oversight, mentoring junior QS staff, and ensuring commercial excellence in project delivery. The jobholder will interface with senior stakeholders across Planning, Finance, Engineering, and Legal, and act as a key advisor to Project Managers and the Commercial Manager.</p><hr><h3>Key Responsibilities &amp; Duties</h3><ul><li><p>Champion a safe working environment and promote SHEQ compliance.</p></li><li><p>Lead commercial strategy and execution across multiple projects, or where applicable possibly due to value, one major contract</p></li><li><p>Develop and maintain high-level relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Oversee the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.</p></li><li><p>Manage complex subcontract packages, including interim assessments, change control, and final account closure.</p></li><li><p>Ensure timely and accurate issuance of commercial notices under contract terms.</p></li><li><p>Lead the change management process, including the preparation and negotiation of Compensation Event Quotations.</p></li><li><p>Review and approve / prepare where applicable, monthly applications and valuations submitted to clients.</p></li><li><p>Ensure robust site record-keeping and compliance with commercial standards.</p></li><li><p>Produce and review detailed monthly reports, CVRs, and cash flow forecasts.</p></li><li><p>Maintain and oversee project cost plans and subcontractor liabilities.</p></li><li><p>Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks across projects.</p></li><li><p>Represent the business in client and subcontractor meetings, including progress and risk reduction sessions.</p></li><li><p>Guide project teams in budget preparation and lifecycle cost control.</p></li><li><p>Lead final account preparation and negotiation.</p></li><li><p>Ensure efficient use of company IT systems for document control and reporting.</p></li><li><p>Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.</p></li></ul><hr><h3>Key Interfaces</h3><ul><li><p>Regional Manager / MPN Managing QS Commercial Manager / BUGM</p></li><li><p>Finance, Planning, and Legal Teams</p></li><li><p>Project Managers and Site Teams</p></li><li><p>Clients and Subcontractors</p></li><li><p>Internal and External Stakeholders</p></li></ul><hr><h3>Person Specification</h3><h4>Qualifications &amp; Experience</h4><p><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul><li><p>BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (2:1 or above)</p></li><li><p>Minimum 7 years’ experience in commercial management within construction or energy sectors</p></li><li><p>Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and construction law</p></li><li><p>Proven experience in managing large-scale subcontractor packages and commercial reporting</p></li><li><p>Advanced skills in cost estimation, value engineering, and financial forecasting</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills</p></li><li><p>Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial software tools</p></li><li><p>Ability to lead teams and work independently with strategic focus</p></li></ul><p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li><p>MSc in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management</p></li><li><p>Chartered Member of RICS or CICES</p></li><li><p>Experience in HV electrical or civil infrastructure projects</p></li><li><p>CSCS card holder</p></li></ul><hr><h3>Values &amp; Behaviours</h3><p>Aligned with Omexom’s core values:</p><ul><li><p><strong>Team Spirit &amp; Generosity</strong> – Lead by example, foster collaboration, and support team development.</p></li><li><p><strong>Trust and Empowerment</strong> – Take ownership of responsibilities and empower others.</p></li><li><p><strong>Integrity and Responsibility</strong> – Uphold high standards and accountability.</p></li><li><p><strong>Innovation &amp; Entrepreneurship</strong> – Drive continuous improvement and innovation.</p></li></ul>
