The Compensation and Benefits Specialist supports the management of the organization’s compensation and benefits programs in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and laws.

Essential Activities and Tasks 

Benefits Administration - 40%

  • Serves as the site administrator for the benefit enrollment system providing assistance with issues, troubleshooting any discrepancies or problems, offering training to staff utilizing the system, and ensures appropriate training occurs when changes and upgrades take place within the system.

  • Administers 403(b) retirement plan operations, including ensuring correct deductions are occurring, auditing HCM data and vendor feeds, and managing the distribution of paperwork to/from vendors.

  • Responds to questions, concerns, and issues regarding benefits in a timely and concise manner; including managing the benefits email inbox.

  • Processes all benefit invoices, including medical, dental, vision, life, supplemental life, long-term disability (LTD), and short-term disability (STD) insurance. 

  • Ensures staff members have paid their premiums when appropriate by auditing the Human Capital Management System (HCM) data and vendor feeds.

  • Helps develop and distribute education, training, and resources regarding benefits to the HR staff.

  • Helps support the Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance process.

  • Assists with the annual benefits open enrollment process as needed.

Compensation Administration - 40%

  • Researches and prepares documentation for review of compensation requests.

  • Assists with the creation and maintenance of job descriptions.

  • Helps respond to organization-wide compensation surveys in a timely fashion.

  • Compiles data to support the review of salary grades and ranges annually and as needed.

  • Updates and maintains salary grades and ranges data in the HCM system at least annually.

Compensation and Benefits Operations Management - 20%

  • Ongoing data management and auditing of HCM to ensure data and process integrity.

  • Provides standard and ad-hoc reports to internal and external customers from HCM system.

  • Participants in projects related to scope, service, delivery, and/or system infrastructure of HR activities.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel information in accordance with company standards and employment guidelines, regulations, and laws.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or in a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Three years experience in compensation and benefits administration required.

  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits guidelines, regulations, and laws required.

  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet required.

  • Proficiency with a large-scale HCM and/or benefits administration system required.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Working Conditions and Special Requirements

  • Sitting - Up to 8 hours/day

  • Standing - Up to 4 hours/day

  • Walking - Up to 2 hours/day

  • Lifting, transferring, pushing or pulling equipment/supplies. - Up to 25 pounds

  • Driving - Up to 6 hours/day

  • Travel % / Overnight Travel - Minimal

  • Risk Category for Exposure to Bloodborne Diseases - III
