About this role
What You’ll Do:
- Works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of teacher education
- Provides instruction in auto mechanics (e.g., operating diagnostic equipment, performing major and minor tune-ups, servicing and repairing brakes and transmissions, diagnosing and repairing electrical problems, fuel systems and cooling and heating problems) and individual assistance
- Assesses educational needs of inmates
- Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
- Provides instruction and individual assistance
- Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
Maintains discipline and/or security
- Counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
- Attend meetings as required
- Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
- Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
- Sesearches, selects and recommends new teaching materials
- Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
- Performs other duties as assigned
Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - automotive mechanics & grade level as assigned*; Teacher 1, 71341, must also have baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement. NOTE: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.
