We're Growing!

ODRA is experiencing strong, sustained growth, and our expanding product lineup is driving the need for talented engineers who want to make a real impact. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys seeing their designs move from concept to production - and onto the road.

About ODRA

ODRA is a North American manufacturer of premium road maintenance equipment, specializing in reliable, operator-friendly mechanical street sweepers used across Canada, the U.S., and beyond. We pride ourselves on practical engineering, high-quality manufacturing, and a workplace culture built on teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.

The Role

We're looking for a Product Engineer to join our Grand Forks team and play a key role in the design, development, and lifecycle management of ODRA road sweepers and components.

You'll work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and service teams to ensure our products are not only innovative, but also manufacturable, reliable, and cost-effective.

Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position. While some remote work is possible, you will be required to be on-site at the Grand Forks facility 1–2 days per week for hands-on collaboration, testing, and product validation.

What You'll Be Doing

Product Design & Development

  • Lead product and component design projects from concept through production
  • Develop and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to optimize designs
  • Participate in design reviews, feasibility studies, and cost evaluations

Testing & Validation

  • Plan and execute test verification for new products and design changes
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design-related issues
  • Use FEA and other analytical tools to validate performance and structural integrity

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and service teams to support product launches and ongoing improvements
  • Support supplier sourcing and evaluation for components and materials
  • Provide engineering support for production and field-related issues

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction, and standardization
  • Stay current with advances in materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design
  • Contribute to patentable innovations and intellectual property documentation

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
  • 5+ years of experience in product design and development (heavy equipment or machinery experience strongly preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility is an asset
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD; FEA experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of DFMA and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 for documentation and reporting

Why ODRA Stands Out

  • Engineers are closely connected to the shop floor and real-world product use
  • Clean, organized manufacturing environment
  • Supportive leadership and collaborative teams
  • Stable company with long-term growth plans
  • Your work directly impacts the products customers rely on every day

What you'll do

  • The Product Engineer will lead product and component design projects from concept through production, developing and maintaining CAD models, drawings, and Bills of Materials while applying Design for Manufacturing and Assembly principles. Responsibilities also include planning and executing testing, performing root cause analysis, and collaborating across manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to support product lifecycle management.
