Position Summary

Manufacturing Quality Control work includes:

  • Auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs against defined internal and regulatory standards. 
  • Testing random samples of finished goods. 
  • Reporting manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods and liaising with Quality Assurance to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

LOCATION:

  • Requires daily onsite attendance; this is not a remote-work position.
     

Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

  • Receiving inspection and testing.
  • In-process inspecting and testing in accordance with Quality System work instructions. Included in this are reading. drawings/blueprints, determining methods for dimensional inspections, inspection of paint and other coatings, weld inspection, and identification of material and inspected items to show inspection status.
  • Final inspection to verify that items exhibit acceptable workmanship, and that inspection reports/certificate of conformance are completed and ready for shipment with the product.  
  • Visual weld inspection of welds and base material.
  • Maintenance of logs, filling out nonconforming material reports, and other required records of inspection and tests.
  • Assuring that inspection gages and equipment are in current calibration.

NON-ESSENTIAL:

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Has completed prior Level T2 requirements.
  • Completes QC-02 competency.
  • Has experience in quality control and/or quality related field.

DESIRED:

  • Basic Technical Mathematics.
  • Blueprint Reading.
  • Inspection, measuring and Test Equipment.
  • Materials and Processes.
  • Inspection Planning.
  • Inspection Technology.
  • Basic Statistics.
  • Computer literacy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to effectively communicate requirements with suppliers and sub-contractors.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is considered SHOP WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Generally, work performed indoors (80%) and occasional outdoors (20%). Hours of work depend on shift assigned.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
  • Occasional travel to vendor sites for product evaluations.
  • Work surface is stable (flat).
  • Requires a great deal of manual dexterity, such as working with measuring and testing equipment, marking and hand/power tools.
