Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager or Lead appointed as applicable, the Fabrication Coordinator & Inspector is responsible for the fabrication and inspection within Global Design Innovation Ltd. This role plays an essential part of the success of the business by ensuring continued drive of innovation and deliver commercially viable products, to achieve the Companies objectives of growth and profitability.


Duties And Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Competencies required for the role include but are not limited to as outlined below, the Fabrication Coordinator and Inspector will be required to fulfil other duties as required to meet the needs of the organisation:

  • Ability to determine the scope of work based on Drawings and BOM’s issued by Engineers.
  • To monitor the ongoing fabrication at the approved fabricators in line with the fabrication status report delivery dates, ensuring that the placed projects are being fabricated in accordance with the applicable codes and standards and on schedule to meet the agreed delivery dates.
  • On visiting the fabricators an overview of all fabrication activities falls within the Fabrication Coordinator and Inspector's remit. Ensure flange protection is in place and good fabrication practices are being adopted.
  • To update and issue status reports in line with project requirements.
  • Review drawings and BOM’s to determine fabrication requirements.
  • Recommend fabricator based on project requirements.
  • Visit the fabricators on a priority basis of delivery dates.
  • Ensure that full QA/QC requirements for the fabrication package are fully detailed at the quotation phase.
  • Ensure that technical queries are raised and logged to cover any fabricator raised issues, expedite close out of the queries to prevent any delay to the fabrication schedule.
  • Complete inspection and release activities ensuring that the information for the fabrication dossier is available prior to goods being released.
  • Comply with relevant codes of conduct
  • Ensure that all work complies with the Company and Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate
  • Report any incidents/near misses, hazards, unsafe acts/conditions, or positive behaviour to a responsible person immediately, and participate in incident investigations where required
  • Actively participate in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, HSE audits, and other relevant meetings where required
  • Perform work responsibly, taking account of environmental, social and economic requirements

Qualifications

  • CWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of technical specifications within your area of expertise.
  • Ability to identify risk to delivery and build in mitigation / contingency plans.
  • Provide intel on fabricators capacity and competency to execute specific scopes.
  • Assist with compiling schedule of rates, bid lists and developing fabrication procurement strategies.
  • Liaise closely with the relevant disciplines to ensure all fabrication deliverables are available to ship as per the specified gate criteria.
  • Ensure effective control of fabrication deliverables.
  • Sufficient experience in their respective discipline to be considered highly skilled.
