Platform / Middleware Infrastructure Architect

Why Join
Imagine being part of a team that shapes the future of banking technology. As a Platform / Middleware Infrastructure Architect at OCBC, you'll play a key role in designing and implementing innovative solutions that transform the way we deliver financial services. You'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, collaborate with talented individuals, and develop your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

How you succeed
To succeed in this role, you'll need to stay ahead of the curve in terms of technology trends and advancements. You'll work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and develop architecture solutions that meet their requirements. You'll also need to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of technology solutions.

What you do

  • Align Solution Design with Enterprise Strategy

  • Ensure platform/middleware designs align to target state, security strategy (mTLS, certificate lifecycle, secrets), data protection, and regulatory requirements for logging/retention and change governance.

  • Deliver Comprehensive Solutions Design Artefacts

  • Produce HLD/MLD and deployment architectures for Web/App platforms (WebLogic/WebSphere/JBoss/Tomcat/.NET), messaging/streaming (IBM MQ/RabbitMQ/Kafka), API gateway/ESB, reverse proxy/web (NGINX/IIS), and platform services on Kubernetes/OpenShift; include capacity, scaling, and DR patterns.

  • Define and Evolve Architecture Design Patterns

  • Standardize blue/green and canary release patterns, golden runtime images, service mesh ingress/egress, TLS/mTLS, JWT/OAuth2/OIDC, circuit-breaker/timeouts/retries, schema/versioning for integration, and SLO/SLA templates; codify policies-as-code where feasible.

  • Deep Domain Expertise with Agility

  • Expertise in JVM and .NET runtime tuning, connection pooling, thread/heap management, GC strategies, Kafka partitioning/replication, MQ HA, API throttling/caching, and container platform constructs (namespaces/quotas/operators).

  • Collaborate and Govern Effectively

  • Drive platform governance (upgrade/roadmap, CVE response, deprecation plans), steward exception processes with risk narratives, and ensure alignment with DevSecOps and application teams on non-functional requirements.

  • Hands-On Engagement with Delivery Teams

  • Embed with squads to enable CI/CD for middleware configurations, GitOps for Kubernetes, automated image pipelines, performance test harnesses, and runbooks for scaling/failover; support cutovers and production readiness.

  • Provide Expert Guidance and Support

  • Mentor platform and application engineers on reliability engineering, capacity/cost trade-offs, observability (APM/logs/metrics/traces), and incident/post-incident remediation with architecture fixes.

Who you are

  • 10+ years designing and operating enterprise middleware platforms (application servers, MQ/streaming, API gateways, web/proxy) across on-prem and hybrid cloud; strong Kubernetes/containers experience.

  • Demonstrated delivery of patterns, standards and executable blueprints; strong automation (Ansible, Terraform), pipeline integration (CI/CD, GitOps), and security integration (PKI, secrets, token-based authentication).

  • Familiar with risk/control frameworks and regional regulations; able to translate compliance into platform guardrails.

  • Advantageous certifications: Red Hat (OpenShift/Ansible), CNCF (CKA/CKS), vendor-specific middleware certifications (WebLogic/WebSphere/JBoss), Azure/AWS platform certifications.

What we offer:

Competitive base salary. A suite of holistic, flexible benefits to suit every lifestyle. Community initiatives. Industry-leading learning and professional development opportunities. Your wellbeing, growth and aspirations are every bit as cared for as the needs of our customers.
