This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of finance—particularly within asset management—and proven experience leading data and reporting initiatives that intersect with fund accounting. The ideal candidate will be ready to independently lead projects, speak directly with stakeholders, document business requirements, and mentor junior team members.

The Senior Manager will report to the Vice President of Fund Operations, based in Oaktree’s Los Angeles, U.S. office. As such, the role requires consistent collaboration across time zones, clear communication, and a proactive leadership style. In addition to taking ownership of major initiatives, the Senior Manager will oversee and support analysts on the team, ensuring alignment and excellence in deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Report Automation and Analytics Leadership

  • Lead the design and delivery of automated reports and dashboards using SQL and Power BI (Desktop and Report Builder).

  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable automation and reporting solutions using tools such as VBA, Office Script, Python, and DAX/Power Query.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data flows across fund accounting systems such as Geneva, Salesforce, and Oaktree’s SQL data warehouse.

  • Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of existing automation tools; ensure data integrity and issue resolution.

  • Mentor and guide analysts working on automation and analytics efforts.

2. Project Ownership and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Independently lead projects from inception to execution, including stakeholder communication, requirement gathering, documentation, and delivery.

  • Represent Fund Accounting & Operations in cross-functional projects involving Data Solutions, IT, and other business units.

  • Ensure timely updates and deliverables are communicated to global stakeholders and leadership.

3. Process Improvement and Team Oversight

  • Proactively identify and lead opportunities for process automation or reengineering within Fund Accounting & Operations.

  • Coordinate with Data Solutions and IT teams to expand access to key datasets and infrastructure needed for reporting and automation initiatives.

  • Promote a culture of innovation, data literacy, and process improvement within the Hyderabad team and broader Fund Accounting organization.

  • Directly oversee, support, and review the work of team analysts; ensure alignment with project and business goals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in fund accounting, audit, or financial services (with strong preference for asset management or real estate/private equity).

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in data transformation, report automation, data & analytics, business intelligence, and/or data visualization.

  • Demonstrated experience leading data or reporting projects across business functions.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, define business requirements, and deliver independently.

  • Previous experience overseeing or mentoring junior staff.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, lead cross-functional discussions, and represent the team in stakeholder meetings.

  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and Power BI (including both Desktop and Report Builder), with a track record of designing, building, and optimizing complex data models, reporting suites, and automated workflows used across business units.

  • Advanced experience with Python, PowerShell, and DAX/Power Query, with the ability to architect and deploy integrated data solutions, streamline multi-system processes, and implement robust, scalable logic for enterprise reporting and automation needs.

  • In-depth understanding of data architecture, accounting workflows, and system interoperability, with demonstrated ability to design and implement solutions that align accounting logic with underlying data structures across enterprise platforms (e.g., data warehouses, general ledger systems, and reporting tools).

Preferred:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA – India), U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA – any level); candidates actively pursuing certification are also encouraged to apply.

  • Experience working with Geneva and Geneva World Investor.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, or Microsoft Fabric.

  • Agile project management experience or certification.

Success in this Role Looks Like:

  • Leading cross-functional projects that advance Oaktree’s reporting and data strategy.

  • Acting as a go-to liaison between Fund Accounting & Operations and data/technology teams.

  • Coaching and developing junior staff to enhance team capability and performance.
