Overview

NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a Senior Data Scientist. Strong capabilities in developing advanced machine learning models and optimizing analytic workflows for predictive and prescriptive intelligence are required. The Senior Data Scientist will be based on-site at US Army Garrison Miami/US Southern Command. US citizenship, along with the ability to successfully pass a basic background check for access to US military bases, is required for employment. The successful candidate will have an active TS/SCI. 

 

Work Setting:

  • Onsite - US Army Garrison – Miami / SOUTHCOM HQ
  • Potential travel up to 5-15% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced ML models and statistical methods to optimize forecasting, risk assessment, and decision-making processes. 
  • Conduct data provenance tracking, ensuring documentation of sources, transformations, and lineage for compliance with governance policies.
  • Implement sprint-based Agile methodologies, ensuring rapid development cycles, backlog grooming, and alignment with mission requirements.
  • Provide Rough Order of Magnitude estimates before each analytic project detailing hours, compute costs, storage consumption, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews to track cost efficiency, assess system performance, and optimize analytic workflows. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Masters’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or nine (9) years of equivalent experience leading AI/ML model development and deployment. 
  • Demonstrated experience building and validating AI/ML models using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn, integrating models into production environments, and optimizing performance for real-time analytics. 
  • Demonstrated experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, or similar distributed data processing frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience with geospatial datasets and integration AI/ML solutions into mission-critical applications. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in deep learning, supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, data wrangling, and feature engineering. 
  • Demonstrated experience with data provenance tracking, model explainability, and bias mitigation in AI/ML applications.
  • Demonstrated capability to translate operational challenges into analytic solutions, ensuring integration of structured, unstructured, and geospatial data.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex project tasks. 

Preferred: 

  • Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer, Microsoft Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate, or TensorFlow Developer Certification.
  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills.
  • Experience with government IT programs and environments.

  • Active TS/SCI
