Overview

NV5 is currently seeking a Commissioning Project Specialist to join our Americas Mission Critical team and service our clients nationally as needs dictate. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and well versed in construction, mechanical and/or electrical systems, and facility operations. The market served will include mission critical.  Duties and responsibilities related to this position are listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting the commissioning process as a project specialist for mission critical projects under limited direct supervision. This will include, but is not limited to;
    • Reviewing construction documents and specifications and interpreting the design intent for engineered systems.
    • Developing pre-functional checklists and functional performance testing scripts.
    • Overseeing the testing of facility systems as conducted by the installing contractors.
  • Primary duties will require consistent exercise of discretion and judgment, and responsibilities could also include making recommendations.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors and other project team members.
  • Develop relationships on projects that accrue goodwill with our existing clients and partners.
  • Support the development of project specific commissioning plans, commissioning procedures, checklists, test scripts, and schedules for Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning activities.

Qualifications

  • 3 years or more of progressive experience in construction with at least 2 years of mission critical facility experience.
  • Associate degree or equivalent in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math related field.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience with cloud-based construction and commissioning management platforms.
  • Able to work as part of a team, think creatively, and solve problems through sound judgment and decision making.
  • Working knowledge and experience of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Willingness to travel 75% or more as national level projects dictate.
