NV5 Geospatial is the geospatial pioneer pushing the boundaries of data and analytics to deliver actionable solutions to transform the way our clients utilize, and value geospatial data is seeking a detail-oriented Geospatial Technician to support high-impact projects in our Dulles, VA office located in the Washington, DC Metro area near Loudoun Gateway Silverline metro station.

 

Work Environment:

  • Location: Onsite at the NV5 Geospatial Dulles, VA Office
  • Travel:  <10% of the time

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Produce high-quality static and interactive maps, and data driven analytical reports to support aviation, transportation and A&E industries.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous quality control and documentation.
  • Use Python for geospatial data processing, ETL workflows, and basic automation (e.g., ArcPy, GeoPandas, Pandas).
  • Familiarity with database systems such as MS SQL, Postgres, MongoDB.
  • ssist with data validation, SQL queries, extract, transformation, quality checks and reports generation across multiple data sources
  • Collaborate with experienced analysts and team leaders for hands-on training on the workflows.
  • Learn to operate advanced photogrammetric software e.g., Trimble Inpho Match AT, DAT/EM Summit Evolution, SOCET GXP, and stereo workstations to perform interior, relative, absolute orientations, and 3D feature extraction for data modelling and obstruction analysis.

Qualifications

What You Bring (Qualifications)

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with geospatial and CAD software packages such as ESRI Suite, QGIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD
  • Experience using Python, SQL for GIS or data workflows, and programming
  • Strong understanding of spatial analysis concepts
  • Ability to work efficiently under time pressure
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, focus, and spatial reasoning skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Data Science, Civil Engineering, Cartography, or related discipline
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in a technical, professional work environment
