Short Description

Compensation: Role starts at $82k+. Negotiable depending on experience. 
Weekly Production Bonus and Yearly Profit-Sharing Bonus.

The Automation Engineer is responsible for collaborating with Maintenance and Production teams to maximize safety and optimize Nucor Rebar Fabrication processes.

Basic Job Functions:

  • Training team members across locations to support consistent performance and knowledge sharing.
  • Using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to trouble shoot and improve both the process and equipment.
  • Developing and implementing improvement plans involving both hardware and software systems.
  • Providing support outside of normal business hours as needed, including flexible scheduling for unscheduled and scheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Assisting with regional maintenance initiatives and supporting cross-site collaboration.
  • Adapting to evolving responsibilities as assigned by the area Supervisor/Manager in response to operational needs.
  • Traveling regularly to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities, resolve issues, and share best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Process, Electrical, Automation Engineering or related field OR
  • 2 years of industrial maintenance and automation experience

Preferences:

  • aSa software experience
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment

Physical Demands:

  • Some heavy lifting may be necessary
  • Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold

Special Demands:

  • Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety sensitive position
  • Frequent travel to regional branches
