Cafeteria Worker

Northeast Kings Education Centre

     Vacant Position 

Effective immediately

6 hours per day 

Rate of Pay: As per CUPE Collective Agreement ($20.60)

  Closing Date for Applications: Midnight, January 29, 2026

Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.

 

 

 

Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Must have experience in food and menu preparation.
  • Must be organized, neat/tidy and have clean work habits.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Must have knowledge of food and nutrition policy for Nova Scotia Public Schools.
  • Must enjoy working with students.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Operator's License.
  • Must have a current Food Handling Certificate.

Responsibilities:

  • Cashier, as required.
  • Cooking, baking, and preparation of food.
  • Keeping daily accounts and inventory control.
  • Selling canteen items at recess and noon.
  • Kitchen duties as required in coordination with the cafeteria team (stocking shelves, cleaning, dishes etc.)
  • Support of the school recycling program.
  • Substitute for Head Cafeteria Worker, as required.
