Tri-County Regional Centre for Education

 

The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Route Description

  • Serving Carleton Consolidated, Maple Grove Education, and Yarmouth Consolidated Mem. High Schools

 

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 2B03 - Bus driver’s license with air brakes endorsement).
  • Completion of Tri-County Regional Centre for Education bus drivers training course or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism.
  • Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other transportation staff.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a school bus in accordance with all safety standards as prescribed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and in accordance with TCRCE policies and procedures;
  • Perform pre trip inspections at the beginning of each work day;
  • Perform pre trip inspections prior to extra/co-curricular trips;
  • Complete all transportation related forms as required and submit in a timely manner (Hours of Work & Passenger Sheets, Daily Inspection Sheets etc);
  • Maintain discipline on school buses and follow TCRCE policies and procedures of the incident on buses;
  • Report all accidents in accordance with TCRCE policy and procedures;
  • Keep inside & outside of the bus clean in accordance with TCRCE Standards;
  • Reports mechanical problems to the appropriate designate;
  • Operate the school bus in accordance with the route plan and schedule;
  • Attend all bus driver in-services provided by the TCRCE;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Internal CUPE Local 964 Members will be given first consideration.

 

Hours may change due to overnight resting spot‎.
