Role Summary

IntelliServ is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support our R&D and Sustaining team in developing and validating electronic hardware for field-deployed tools and supporting systems. This is a hands-on lab internship focused on prototyping, debug, and test execution. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to real product development work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support prototype build and electronic assembly, including basic rework as needed
  • Assist with PCB bring-up, troubleshooting, and debugging under engineer guidance
  • Use standard lab tools and instrumentation: DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies, and related equipment
  • Help develop, execute, and document test procedures and test results
  • Capture findings clearly in test notes and short reports (what was tested, setup, results, issues found)
  • Assist with schematic/PCB updates and engineering documentation (training provided)
  • Maintain clear, organized lab practices (fixtures, parts, cables, test setups)
  • Work with team members across disciplines to support rapid iteration and issue resolution

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline)
  • Basic understanding of electronics fundamentals (Ohms Law, power concepts, signal processing, RF)
  • Comfortable learning and working in a lab environment with hands-on tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document work clearly
  • Ability to work on-site in Provo for lab activities

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

  • Soldering experience (through-hole and SMT)
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer (coursework or project experience)
  • Exposure to embedded hardware concepts (UART/I2C/SPI, sensors, power regulation)
  • Prior experience building or running test setups, fixtures, or harnesses
  • Demonstrated personal/academic projects involving electronics build + debug

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world experience taking hardware from prototype to validated design
  • Practical debug and test skills used in professional R&D
  • Mentorship from engineers and exposure to cross-functional product development

Submit your resume and (if available) a short project summary (coursework, lab projects, or personal builds are great).
