Responsibilities

An entry level BioMedical Equipment Technician with 0- 2 years’ experience.  The BMET I may or may not, dependent on experience be able to independently respond to most calls in the hospital, whether in his/her specific areas of expertise or not, because of intense general training, customer service skills, general knowledge of all medical devices, and the knowledge of safety in all areas.  In experienced enough to know when to call for help and will not overstep his/her abilities.


Qualifications

  1. Electronic fundamentals, including basic electricity - DC and AC, Active devices, Transducers, Digital devices, Microprocessors, Troubleshooting techniques, and Electrical Safety in Healthcare.
  2. General Human Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology.
  3. Zero to two (0 - 2) years’ experience working in BioMedical Engineering in the support of medical equipment. Experience may be general in nature, or may reflect specialization in a particular aspect of medical equipment.

Preferred:

  1. Up to 2 years experience working in a hospital setting, either in BioMedical Engineering, or a clinical, area, such a clinical lab, surgery, or radiology department.
  2. ICC Certification as a CBET, CLES, or CRES is preferred.
