Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Sector has an opening for a Manufacturing Field Engineering (MFE) – Principal or Sr Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

 

This position require the candidate to be in the greater Long Island, NY area.

 

We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient individual to support the MFE- (Manufacturing Field Engineering) function for multiple NGC programs. This role is critical in enabling successful supplier technical oversite, engagement, and onsite technical support at multiple supplier locations.

The individual will be responsible for overseeing and implementing essential MFE services, including management of supplier Requests for Change/Information (RCIs), processing Tool Notifications and requests, assigning ABLE Codes, Capacity Risk Assessments (CRAs), and Post Award Reviews.

As a key technical point of contact for NGC suppliers, the individual will represent engineering interests across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), provide on-site supplier technical support, and collaborate with Global Supply Chain and Program Engineering to ensure supplier readiness and alignment with production schedules and configuration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting RCI requests are required with Engineering and supplier

  • Process Tool Notifications and evaluate supplier tooling proposals

  • Assign ABLE Codes and participate in PRD reviews

  • Serve as Technical POC for IPTs / SMTs and support supplier interface with programs

  • Facilitate supplier technical support

  • Support work transfers, design reviews, and ROM impact estimates as required

  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Sourcing and SME-Ops Teams

  • Understanding of Sheet metal detail part and assembly fabrication

  • Understanding of Machiened detail components and complex machined assemblies

  • Understanding of both metallic and non-metallic composite structures

  • Ability to conduct Root Cause Corrective Action investigations in Support of production Constraints

 

This position may be filled as a Level 3 or Level 4 based on the qualifications outlined below.

Basic Qualifications Level 3:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant engineering experience in procurement support, tooling evaluation, and technical liaison roles ; or Masters Degree and 3 years of relevant engineering experience in procurement support, tooling evaluation, and technical liaison roles

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business

  • Strong background in supplier manufacturing engineering, aerospace preferred

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive process standardization

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of relevant engineering experience in procurement support, tooling evaluation, and technical liaison roles ; or Masters Degree and 6 years of relevant engineering experience in procurement support, tooling evaluation, and technical liaison roles

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business

  • Strong background in supplier manufacturing engineering, aerospace preferred

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive process standardization

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Familiarity with systems such as SRCI, and ABLE Coding

  • Familiar with Engineering software NX and Catia

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
