Description

Northern Manufacturing, a worldwide leader in stainless steel fabrication, is seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our Maintenance team. The Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of hands-on maintenance duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment, facility systems, and grounds in support of safe, reliable manufacturing operations.


This role works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and supports both day-to-day maintenance needs and longer-term preventive and corrective maintenance efforts. The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping equipment running, responding to breakdowns, and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.


Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance, repair, and installation of production equipment and facility systems in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor and maintenance team with daily maintenance activities, repairs, and projects.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues; identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns by repairing or replacing defective parts and restoring equipment to service using manuals, schematics, and best practices.
  • Prioritize emergency repairs to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections on production equipment, cranes, facilities, and support systems.
  • Assist with mechanical assembly related to customer projects or internal equipment, including gearboxes, motors, and related components.
  • Assist with facility and grounds maintenance, which may include snow removal, equipment storage, material handling, and working at heights when required.
  • Conduct routine fleet vehicle safety checks and assist with basic fleet maintenance activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate issues, repairs, and recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage and respond to after-hours maintenance needs as required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Requirements

  • 1+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience preferred, or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Strong internal customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with production, maintenance, and leadership teams, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated and solutions-oriented with the ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Effective team player who collaborates well across departments and supports team goals.
  • Organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
