The Life Safety Inspector performs field-based inspections, testing, and documentation of life safety components throughout the organization to ensure compliance with NFPA codes, DNV standards, CMS regulations, and state/local requirements. This role conducts routine and preventive inspections of fire and smoke barriers, fire/smoke doors, egress pathways, fire-stopping, emergency lighting, exit signage, penetrations, and other life safety features, identifies deficiencies and initiates corrective work orders as needed to maintain regulatory compliance. Works closely with the Life Safety Coordinator to ensure field documentation is accurate and meets regulatory standards, verifies completion of repairs, and monitors the condition of life safety infrastructure across the organization. This role may also assist in on-site support of contractors, participate in hazard risk assessments related to life safety conditions to maintain a continuous state of survey readiness.
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of experience inspecting life safety devices

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with staff, peers, and leaders across the organization
Excellent computer and communication skills
Able to read blueprints and understand basic structural and architectural design requirements
Maintains documentation of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions taken
Knowledge of life safety systems: alarms, suppression systems, emergency lighting, and other essential system components
Knowledge of NFPA codes, DNV/NAIHO Standards, and local, state and federal code requirements
Responsible for inspecting of all fire and life safety system inspections, maintenance, repairs and installations
Provide accurate and detailed inspection reports with proper documentation of improvements and complications
Additionally, the inspector must stay informed about NFPA standards and code requirements
Completes inspections in a timely manner, coordinating with the inspection coordinator to ensure that the work aligns with the proposed scope
Understands and interprets the life safety code
Maintains documentation of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions taken
Inspects and documents the condition of Emergency Lighting monthly
Inspects and documents the condition of Fire Extinguishers monthly
Inspects and documents the condition of Exit Signage monthly
Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment in required situations
