Job DetailsJob Location: Daly City, CA 94014Salary Range: $82,544.80 - $108,888.00 SalaryThe Government and Community Affairs Representative works closely with the Government and Community Affairs team to promote the organization’s federal, state, and local policy initiatives and programs. This position analyzes policies on the federal, state, and local levels of government, engages with community partners and elected officials and their staff, and helps with press conferences and media relations. This position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works with the Government and Community Affairs team to develop policy positions and legislative or administrative strategy recommendations to NEMS leadership on a wide range of federal, state, and local issues that affect NEMS’ service area, target populations, and business operations.
Assists in drafting sign-on letters, preparing testimony, and developing NEMS positions for approval by the President & CEO or senior management in response to emerging and ongoing issues.
Represents NEMS in various key external coalitions, committees, taskforces, etc.
Assists with communication and training efforts to educate various internal departments and/or patients on important policy issues.
Attends various virtual or in-person meetings, functions, events, and/or conferences both locally in the San Francisco Bay Area and at the state and federal levels as appropriate.
Helps develop stronger relationships with a wide array of community stakeholders and elected officials and their staff.
Aids the Chief Administrative Officer with press conferences and media relations.
Maintains confidentiality with respect to all information that is used or obtained in the course of work.
Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in health, public policy, social sciences, public relations, or related field
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in a legislative role, advocacy, or healthcare policy issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication, public speaking and researching skills
Familiarity with the federal, state, and local legislative and administrative processes.
A strong interest in health policy, politics, community relations, and/or media.
Basic understanding of FQHCs.
Ability to exercise discretion and have the independent judgment to advance the interests of the organization.
Demonstrate a proven track record of professionalism in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently while contributing and adding value to overall structure to the company
LANGUAGE:
Fluent reading, writing and speaking in English is required.
Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) is preferred but not required.
Ability to speak other languages or dialects is an asset.
STATUS:
This is an FLSA exempt position.
