Responsibilities

The Machinery Controls Systems Engineer will provide lifecycle support of fielded and future Machinery Control Systems (MCS) on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE class of destroyerThis includes shipboard support as well as Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) supportThe USS ARLEIGH BURKE MCS is comprised of several variants spanning various technologies. The newest technology variant focuses on industry standard commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment inclusive of ruggedized computers and programmable logic controller (PLC) systems. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lifecycle support of the supervisory machinery control system which includes, but is not limited to: 
  • Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment 
  • Provide technical input to the design of future MCS systems 
  • Develop, derive, and refine system and software requirements for future fielded systems 
  • Troubleshooting complex problems of future fielded systems (PLC based control systems) both at LBES and shipboard 
  • Review of technical documentation related to future fielded systems 
  • Provide test support at LBES 
  • Provide shipboard SW & HW installation support at LBES and shipboard during modernization availabilities 
  • Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of future fielded systems 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering or any Engineering degree is required 

 

  • 6+ months of experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems or the ability to take various PLC classes for familiarity.
  • Successful applicants must either have an active government Secret clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams 
  • Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools associated with industrial control system troubleshooting 
  • Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance
  • Travel up to 20%
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting
  • Basic Technical writing ability 
  • Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, or other PLC systems
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitions (SCADA) systems

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.

USD $71,800.00 - USD $112,150.00 /Yr.
