SUMMARY
Principal Engineer for Engineering Infrastructure and Information Technology for the Nintendo Technology Development Inc. (NTD) organization who architects complex solutions and key technology developments to grow the business for the long term. This role requires advanced subject matter expertise in multiple technical domains and a high degree of collaboration across all organizational levels at Nintendo Co., Ltd. (NCL) and its subsidiaries, as well as with strategically significant external partners. This position has manager-level impact; however may not have direct reports.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES


  • Maintains the overall system architecture and manages highly technical, strategically critical infrastructure supporting R&D engineering teams.

  • Ensures effective and efficient delivery of IT services to the organization, including establishing appropriate IT standards, controls, policies and procedures.

  • Influences decisions that impact multiple teams and programs for the organization.

  • Drives innovation and provides technical direction for platform engineering solutions and IT services aligned with strategic goals in collaboration with management and initiative stakeholders.

  • Defines functional requirements, use-case scenarios, design and architecture at a system level.

  • Proactively identifies and advocates for high-impact technical projects.

  • Evaluates technology innovations and makes recommendations on their adoption.

  • Participates in the development of cross-functional engineering roadmaps and strategies. 

  • Responsible for mentoring the team with appropriate technical breadth and depth required to support the organization. 

  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with teams across organizational boundaries and with external partners to ensure delivery of high-quality services and solutions.

  • Very effective at negotiating with and influencing internal and external audiences; seeks to build relationships and partner with others; pursues the diverse experience of others to achieve business objectives.

  • Up to 10% travel; domestic and international.







 


SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS


  • 10+ years of broad experience across multiple domain areas such as systems engineering and IT infrastructure, networking and storage, cloud computing infrastructure, security, application development, system administration and service desk operations.

  • Advanced knowledge of IT technologies and IT infrastructure engineering.

  • Advanced knowledge of established IT processes and internal controls (e.g. SDLC, JSOX, change management, architecture review, incident response, etc.)

  • Advanced knowledge managing fleets which include Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.

  • Highly proficient in scripting and automation using tools like bash, python, terraform, ansible etc.

  • Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, etc.

  • Experience with cloud orchestration infrastructure such as OpenStack, OpenNebula, vSphere, Nutanix, Terraform, AWS, Azure etc. 

  • Experience with Microsoft products such as Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), Intune, Office365 etc.

  • Experience mentoring others and cultivating technical breadth and depth on a team. 

  • Fluency in Japanese a plus.

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


This position is onsite in Redmond, WA, and not open to remote status at this time. 




 

This position includes the base pay range listed below, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.

Pay Range:
$169,000$304,200 USD
