WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

This role reports to the Director, Manufacturing & Systems Engineering in EMEA and closely collaborates with the Product Risk Engineering, Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineering, and Advance Manufacturing Engineering teams to align and drive Nike’s strategic manufacturing goals and continuous improvement objectives and to support the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies that enhances foundational capabilities and connect the dots.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a “Manufacturing Systems Engineer 1” based in Istanbul, Turkiye. This is a key role within Nike’s Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for driving the development and implementation of foundational capabilities in Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering, leading and ensuring alignment with Nike’s strategic manufacturing initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree, minimum 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Systems Engineering or a related field, with a good foundation in Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering; Fabric Technologies, advanced degrees or certifications are preferred.

  • Experienced in fabric development & production: including spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing, printing – sublimation printing techniques and washing processes

  • Proven leadership and management skills to inspire a team of engineers toward common goals and foster innovation. Good organizational and project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to focus on resolution and follow up on day-to-day issues, to foresee future problems, and take preventive action. Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across different teams and organizational levels.

  • Thorough understanding of Apparel/Accessory process and how it relates to scheduling, manufacturing, and distribution, focusing on the impact on product/service quality.

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing technologies and their application in enhancing operational quality and efficiency.

  • Able to prioritize & direct people and projects through to completion, work with all levels of management and different groups.

  • A fair understanding in implementing and sustaining Continuous Improvement Methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. A result-driven mindset with a focus on operational excellence, use data to influence decision making and drive continuous improvement.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for optimizing manufacturing processes. Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Other collaborating or data analysis software are highly preferred.

  • Proficiency in process engineering, with a track record of successful process improvement and optimization projects and proficiency in General Sewing Data (GSD) and background in factory capacity planning & management is a plus

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

  • Leadership: You will take the initiative to develop and implement Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering principles within Nike’s manufacturing partner base to elevate their overall capabilities.

  • Standards: You will liaise with Nike’s Product Risk Engineering team to deploy Nike’s product performance standards and lead the standardization of manufacturing processes, ensure consistency and efficiency across Nike’s APAC partner base.

  • Manufacturing Readiness: You will leverage manufacturing integration, engineering tools, and best practices with quality/process engineering to mitigate risk at production.

  • Manufacturing Execution: You will operate with world-class production quality engineering processes to ensure the perfect product is made right the first time.

  • Inspections & Audits: You will reference quality measurement and verification of post-production materials and products, to make informed product decisions.

  • Partner closely with internal and external Nike’s Stakeholders to ensure materials meet creative, functional and commercial requirements.

  • Research and analyse global textile trends, market needs, new technologies/ processes, and consumer preferences to inform and drive fabric innovation.

  • Close-monitor seasonal fabric development KPI’s and cross-brand discipline on number of seasonal developments, fabric testing and risk assessment to follow & to set Nike Standards in consideration with regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Ensure Nike Sustainability Targets are met through material innovation, supplier collaboration, fiber and fabric innovators.

  • Closely cooperate with product development teams to create/select/use appropriate materials and providing technical support during the development and production stages.

  • Monitor and support sustainable material initiatives (GRS, BCI, ZDHC etc)

  • Issue Management: You will collaborate with Nike’s Issue Management team to conduct comprehensive review, analysis, and resolution of product issues; you will lead the root cause investigation and Corrective and Prevention action (CAPA) follow-up for continuous improvement at the factory and build a culture of quality.

  • Marketplace Feedback: You will incorporate consumer feedback based on in-market product quality, and lessons applied to future product/manufacturing improvements.

  • As part of the role, you will establish and track performance metrics to assess the impact of implemented initiatives on manufacturing outcomes.
