POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Director of IT, the LAN Administrator is responsible for executing and maintaining local area network operations and desktop infrastructure in alignment with organizational priorities. This role contributes to portions of the IT project lifecycle, performing tasks that support device provisioning, endpoint maintenance, and network configuration. Responsibilities are primarily hands-on and operational, requiring clear communication, procedural adherence, and effective customer interaction. The role is entry-level to intermediate in technical scope and involves ongoing collaboration with both IT leadership and end users.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Core Responsibilities

•    Deploy and configure desktop hardware, peripheral equipment, and approved software under standardized procedures.

•    Support and administer operating system updates, application patches, and service packs; perform regression testing where applicable.

•    Troubleshoot and resolve Tier I/II incidents involving local Windows servers, switches, WAPs, firewalls, routers, and telecommunication systems under the guidance of senior systems administrators.

•    Assist in the implementation and support of clinical systems and healthcare-specific applications in collaboration with departmental stakeholders and third-party vendors.

•    Participate in the deployment, relocation, and lifecycle management of computing assets and maintain accurate asset inventory.

Technical Competencies

•    Familiarity with domain-based infrastructure (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).

•    Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

•    Basic understanding of healthcare IT systems including EMR, nurse call, telemetry, and imaging systems.

•    Proficiency in IP networking concepts and equipment (firewalls, switches, WAPs, DMARC, and POTS).

•    Basic experience with Avaya IP Office phone system administration.

•    Awareness of HIPAA, PHI, and relevant regulatory compliance standards.

•    Familiarity with Microsoft Intune for endpoint management.

EDUCATION:

  •     Associate degree or equivalent post-secondary coursework in Information Technology or related field required.

EXPERIENCE:

•    Minimum of three (3) years of professional IT experience, including at least two (2) years in a healthcare or similar regulated environment.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

•    Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT


The physical demands and work environment described herein are representative of those that generally must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully:

•    This position primarily involves standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting to transfer patients daily.

•    This position requires using the arm, leg, and back muscles frequently and for extended periods and involves both hands and legs regularly.

•    This position requires regular work with equipment and movable parts.

•    This position requires work with hands in water and occasionally with or near chemicals.

•    Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, and interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitude.

•    The role involves regular movement including standing, walking, bending, and lifting of equipment (up to 50 lbs).

•    Frequent use of upper extremities and back muscles is required for tasks involving device installation and maintenance.

•    May involve work in confined or elevated areas and interaction with electronic equipment and cabling infrastructure.

•    Periodic exposure to cleaning agents, dust, or materials associated with IT hardware.

•    Must maintain focus and composure while managing multiple demands, interruptions, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

•    Participation in scheduled on-call rotations and after-hours support may be required based on operational needs.
