Position Specific Description

This position is part of the growing RNG Team within NextEra Energy’s Power Generation Division.
 
The Wellfield Technician II is an experienced position in landfill GCCS design, operations, and management. Relevant experience includes previous U.S. landfills subject to Federal NSPS requirements.   
 
The Wellfield Technician II must demonstrate a strong aptitude in mechanical work, understand relevant regulatory requirements, will be trained in reading and implementing GCCS plans, equipment operating and maintenance manuals, and schematics.
  
Position Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform operations and maintenance of the landfill gas collection system which includes, but not limited to, activities such as taking gas reads, tuning, inspecting, and repairing LFG wellheads and piping, ensuring condensate knockouts and pumps are working properly.
  • Proactively work with landfill partners and properly operate, maintain the GCCS work and optimize performance and increase efficiency in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance of their gas collection systems.
  • Possess proficiency with MS Office Suite products, in particular Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strictly follow and enforce Company safety policies and administer Company policies and procedures
  • Regulate and Monitor Wellhead and header pressure or vacuum
  • Regulate Wellhead and header gas temperature
  • Maintain wellfield records on the items listed above herein and input the data to SCS ETools or such other GCCS monitoring, and management software (“GCCS Tool”) used by Landfill Owner

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned and GCCS operation and maintenance includes:
  • Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations
  • Assist with coordinating contractor activities
  • Follow job related health and safety requirements and procedures
  • Available for on-call response to GCCS related malfunction event(s)


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Unrestricted Valid Driver’s License (Non-CDL)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Equivalent Experience
  • Intermediate understanding of government rules, regulations, the site-specific Title V Permit and NSPS guidelines GCCS operations


Work Environment:

  • Required to work outdoors, work involves exposure to dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (FRC, safety glasses, hardhat, ear/noise protection, safety boots, safety vest, personal multi-gas monitor, etc.) in accordance with company Health and Safety standards

Job Overview

The Wellfield Technician II must demonstrate a strong aptitude in mechanical work, understand relevant regulatory requirements, will be trained in reading and implementing GCCS plans, equipment operating and maintenance manuals, and schematics.. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines. Maintains accurate records of equipment maintenance, tracking, and production activities. Collaborates with the team to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Adheres to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure work environment. Participates in safety meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skillsets.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take the LFG composition (methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and balance gas) and/or as may otherwise be required 
  • Regulate and Monitor Wellhead and header pressure or vacuum
  • Perform Quarterly Liquid levels and liquids extraction from wells and document accordingly
  • Regulate Wellhead and header gas temperature
  • Available for on-call response to GCCS related malfunction event(s)
  • Practice to optimize gas recovery, gas quality and/or regulatory compliance
  • Be familiar with the correct operation, including operating a backhoe, small excavator
  • Make all adjustments made at each well as required 
  • Perform wellfield adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data
  • Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 1.5+ years
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience
