Position Specific Description

In this role, you will play a critical role in advancing NextEra Energy’s data center hub development strategy, supporting the rapid growth of energy-intensive customers and enabling long-term value creation.
As a Project Director of Development for Data Center Hubs, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary development initiatives from early-stage origination through execution readiness. You will oversee cross-functional teams across development, commercial, engineering, real estate, regulatory, finance, and external stakeholders to deliver scalable, repeatable data center hub solutions. This role will work closely with senior leadership to drive site strategy, customer engagement, and commercial alignment that directly impact NextEra Energy’s growth objectives and bottom line.
You will be responsible for managing multiple projects concurrently, navigating permitting, land acquisition, utility infrastructure planning, and community engagement efforts across diverse regions. The role requires frequent interaction with internal Subject Matter Experts and external partners, as well as regular presentations to Development and executive leadership on project status, risks, and opportunities. Travel to project sites will be required to develop a deep understanding of regional markets, customer needs, and local stakeholder dynamics.
This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and large-load customers while helping define NextEra Energy’s approach to data center hub development. We are seeking a strategic, execution-focused leader with strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new or enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.
