Job Summary/Objective: The Safety Manager provides regional environmental, health and safety leadership, including training and ensures company-wide compliance with safety policies. This role supports NextEdge’s safety program across all lines of business and external subcontractors.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support NextEdge’s safety program across all lines of business and external subcontractors.
  • Perform and manage safety audits in the field and facilities, including equipment, vehicle, and PPE inspections.
  • Supervise, lead, and mentor company-wide safety and compliance.
  • Develop and implement safety and compliance programs and policies to meet operational goals and reduce injuries and incidents.
  • Support management in the implementation of safety and compliance programs, and communicate safety strategy and objectives to leadership.
  • Design and implement effective metrics to track progress, identify areas of concern, and drive accountability.
  • Liaise with vendors regarding training compliance.
  • Develop and implement audit tracks, identifying gaps in local compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead, direct, or support incident investigation processes, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.
  • Facilitate supervisor and management training on root cause analysis.
  • Assist site management in ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory changes to management.
  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks and improve safe work practices.
  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings with an emphasis on safety and continuous improvement.
  • Foster and manage positive relationships with customers and stakeholders for all projects and scopes of work.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or ten years’ experience in a construction safety-related role.
  • Five (5) years related supervisory experience in a safety role.
  • Working knowledge of the construction and/or telecommunications/electrical/gas industry.


Preferred and Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • OSHA 500 Preferred Qualifications.
  • OSHA 10 and 30 Certifications.
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certifications, such as ASP or CSP.
  • Instructor Certified in High Angle Climbing, Rescue, and Rigging.
  • Instructor Certified in First Aid/CPR.
  • Possess and maintain a clear MVR and valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass a seven-year background check to obtain and maintain Erail, TWIC, DoE, or DoD clearance.


Skills Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of underground machines such as trencher, mini-ex, and directional bore, and city codes for underground work such as permits, restoration, and traffic control.
  • Ability to be trained as an instructor for specific safety training courses.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate others.
  • Extensive experience in contractor communications, and liaising with design teams and other project professionals.
  • Advanced experience within the telecommunications construction space.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project plans.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide strong leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.


Direct/Indirect Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Sets goals for performance and deadlines in compliance with company and clients' plans and vision.
  • Trains new staff across various lines of business as it pertains to EH&S.
  • Partners with HR/Legal to address performance issues of employees in accordance with company policy.


Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required:

  • Able to work in all non-climate-controlled environments and all-weather conditions except for unsafe or extreme weather conditions.
  • Office environment.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to lift loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb poles with proper equipment (safety belt, strap, climbers, etc.).
  • Ability to use a bucket truck.
  • Travel as required.
