About this role

Job Summary: 

Responsible for supervising and coordinating sales activities in assigned sales locations. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Ensures the implementation of procedures governing retail operations at a main branch or location store s to achieve established sales goals and standards of customer service. 

  • Reviews merchandise stock structure for area of responsibility and makes recommendations for additions/deletions of merchandise and slow-moving items. 
  • Reviews stock condition and implements an effective markdown program upon approval of designated supervisor.
  • Coordinates with the visual merchandising staff regarding store promotional programs. 
  • Serves as principal point of contact for providing feedback information to Retail Operation Manager Sales Manager or Merchandise Buyers regarding product saleability, local demand requirements, and slow fast-moving items. 
  • Supervises assigned personnel. 
  • Provides work direction and supervision for a group of associates. 
  • Establishes work schedules, assigns and distributes work, counsels associates, prepares and/or approves work performance reviews, approves/disapproves leave, recommends personnel actions, and performs other supervisory functions. 
  • Promotes employee morale and attempts to resolve associate relations problems. 
  • Trains associates on proper order procedures, product presentation, label maintenance, display and customer service.
  • Ensures that merchandise is attractively displayed. 
  • Ensures adherence to correct procedures for the receipt, pricing, storage, and issue of merchandise to the sales floor. 
  • Participates periodic inventories and the maintenance and analysis of records, reports and budgets. 
  • Maintains accountability for designated area of responsibility as it relates to cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory. 
  • Ensures compliance with fire safety, sanitation, and security regulations. 
  • Initiates work orders for repair and maintenance.
  • May supervise services functions selling operations. 
  • Incumbent performs independently exercising judgment and initiative in carrying out mission functions. 
  • Supervisor provides overall guidance and assistance as to policy and program objectives. 
  • Work is reviewed in terms of results obtained according to objectives and goals established. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


A total of 4 years' experience consisting of the following:

 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 

3 years' experience in administrative, clerical, retail sales or other related work which enabled the applicant to gain a knowledge of selling floor operations, practices and procedures, skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and the ability to exercise mature judgment. 

OR 

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE

1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelors degree for 3 years of general experience. 

AND 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 

1 year of responsible experience which provided a background in merchandise controls, inventory, stock, record keeping and reports, exempt or nonexempt supervisory experience, merchandise display and retail promotions or experience in the area of customer relations in an effort to improve sales and maintain operating cost efficiencies.
