Patient Registrar - Interventional Radiology

Per Diem | Weekdays | Days | Weill Cornell

At NewYork-Presbyterian, Patient Registrars play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for every patient. In our Radiology department, you’ll be the calm, reassuring presence patients rely on as they navigate their care journey.

Use your attention to detail and customer service skills to register, schedule, and obtain pre-certification and authorization for imaging procedures — helping ensure timely care and proper coverage from third-party payers. You’ll greet patients with warmth and professionalism, gather and enter accurate demographic and insurance information, and maintain daily appointment schedules.

What You’ll Do:

  • Register and pre-register patients in the hospital’s online system

  • Verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and ensure financial obligations are communicated

  • Schedule appointments and maintain daily calendars

  • Interface with referring offices and departments to coordinate care

  • Prepare all necessary paperwork and documentation

  • Record patient history and support clinical workflows

  • Once proficient, help train new team members to enhance department coverage

Schedule & Location:

This is a per diem, day flex shift position based in the Radiology department at Weill Cornell, located at 525 East 68th Street, New York, NY.

  • Weekday coverage only — no weekends

  • 8-hour shifts between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM

  • Includes rotating holiday coverage

Preferred Criteria

  • Some college

  • Energetic, approachable individual with a desire to put patients first.

  • Knowledge of health insurance benefits/requirements

  • Knowledge of Coding: ICD 9, CPT-4

Required Criteria

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • One year of clerical experience

  • Effective communication, along with phone and computer skills
