Job Summary

New England Mechanical Services is currently seeking an HVAC Chiller Technician with a D2 or S2 license to perform maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and retrofits on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers and boilers (water/steam).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include but not limited to the following.

Performs routine and preventative maintenance on chillers and boilers.

Supporting equipment such as chillers, compressors, purge units, cooling towers, pumps/motors, valves, boilers, and large unitary equipment.

Performs major repairs on chillers and boilers.

Excellent record keeping, including refrigeration and operation logs.

Following all EPA guidelines in recovering refrigerant, replacement of components, gaskets, seals and bearings.

Performs boiler inspections and PM teardowns per current state of CT code guidelines

Keep trade licenses and certifications current. Follow and comply with the rules and regulations of section 608 of the clean air act and occupational safety regulations mandated by federal, state and local governments.

Attend all safety training provided and/or sponsored by NEMSI

Follow all NEMSI safety policies, procedures, and use personal protective equipment when performing installation and/or servicing HVAC systems.

Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining a clean and neat appearance.

Flexible to work overtime and weekends as demand requires

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Connecticut D2 or S2 license or Refrigeration license from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years’ minimum experience on Commercial HVAC systems.
  • EPA certified
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Boiler and steam experience a plus

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, smell and lift, set-up and climb ladders as well as stairways. The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move various weight ranges such as 0-50 lbs. frequently, 51-100 lbs. occasionally and 101 plus seldom. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Maintain a neat and clean appearance and utilize all protective equipment provided and as required.
