JOB MISSION:    

The Retail Financial Accountant will be responsible for supporting  retail  financial reporting and compliance across several European entities. This role places a strong emphasis on reviewing, improving, and standardising key accounting processes in collaboration with our Shared Service Centre and Retail Operations teams. The role involves ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, alongside maintaining internal controls that support both commercial initiatives and regulatory compliance.  

 

ΜΑJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:   

Accounting Improvement In Execution:

  • Lead a project to enhance key retail-related accounting processes across multiple European entities. 

  • Collaborate with the Shared Service Centre alongside Retail Operations departments to drive successful adoption and integration of improved processes.  

  • Build and maintain comprehensive internal procedure documentation to support consistent implementation and operational efficiency  

 

Financial Accounting and Statutory Reporting :

  • Support the close process across several European entities, including month end accounting and variance analysis.   

  • Assisting with relevant Balance Sheet reconciliations, the related supporting documentation and variance analysis.   

  • Support with year-end audits and financial statements preparation and submissions.   

  • Assist with adhoc compliance requests related to statutory and government reporting requirements.  

 

Operational and Finance Support: 

  • Provide insights through month end variance analysis and reporting.   

  • Support a guideline environment, working closely alongside the shared service centre to standardise processes and focus on continuous improvement.   

  • Assist the EMEA Management, Commercial and Financial Information Systems team as necessary on ad hoc requirements and new projects.   

  • Assist and support transition to the new ERP system.   

 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:    

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.   

  • Relevant years of experience post qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with an audit background.   

  • Motivated with pro-active attitude focused on continual improvement of processes and reporting.   

  • Strong communication skills and able to develop and  maintain  strong relationship with colleagues.   

  • Organised, structured, able to manage priorities and work to tight deadlines.   

  • High degree of accuracy and eye for detail.   

  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and presentation skills.   

  • Experience with Microsoft D365 and Oracle desirable, but not essential.

  •  Experience in operational improvement projects and automation.

  • Great teammate.
