What will you do:

The Chief Medical Officer, Swedish Hospital, Endeavor Health will oversee the clinical performance related to quality, physician practice, patient safety, physician-related patient experience for Swedish Hospital. The CMO will work with the Swedish Hospital’s president, Endeavor System Chief Clinical Officer, department chairs and operational leaders to build and deploy interdisciplinary care delivery models and evidence-based practices that enhance clinical outcomes, improve patient experience and team member engagement, improve care efficiency, and effectively include advanced practice providers.  This role will oversee key elements of the quality function at Swedish Hospital and will partner with system physician, clinical, and operational leaders to achieve the organizational vision of safe, seamless, and personal, every person, every time.  This role provides leadership of the program performance of critical care, stroke, hospital medicine, and emergency services and serves a key stakeholder in collaborating with the medical staff chairs for clinical program performance.  This role is a critical convener of interdisciplinary teams to proactively develop safe systems of care and respond to ongoing clinical care delivery improvement opportunities. This role works as a dyad partner with the Swedish Hospital Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). The CMO has oversight of the metrics and outcomes within the acute care settings that relate to quality and patient safety, with focused attention to the care model and delivery of acute care services. The scope of this role involves many collaborative relationships with the overall quality, patient experience, and cross care continuum teams; and with operational, nursing and practice-based leaders.  In addition, this role will partner with individuals with similar accountabilities across the system to ensure there is system-level advancement in acute care delivery and outcomes. Serves as a collaborative leader with the Endeavor Office of Academic Affairs for the Swedish ACGME accredited programs including:  Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Podiatry, as well as fellowships in Critical Care and Pulmonary Critical Care.

This role is actively engaged in and accountable with the broader leadership team to advance key dimensions of organizational performance across the system and will participate on key system quality councils and other structures to identify common areas of opportunities, create strategic priorities, and harmonize tactics whenever appropriate. 

High Reliability: Increase standardization and compliance with defined operational practices and consistency of resource utilization to realize value improvement across the continuum and improve patient safety.  Actively work to advance the culture of safety.

High Value Care Delivery Models: Redesign care delivery models to achieve the quadruple aim – clinical outcomes, patient experience, provider experience, and cost of care -- within the acute care settings.

What you will need:

  • Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • License: Current unrestricted IL medical license or willingness and ability to secure unrestricted licensure prior to start date
  • Certification: Current and ongoing Board certification in a clinical specialty
  • Experience: At least three years of progressive operational and physician leadership experience
