The Opportunity

Netflix is revolutionizing entertainment, enabling stories from anywhere to reach audiences everywhere. As we continue to expand our slate across Southeast Asia and Chinese-language content, world-class visual effects have become central to how we bring our creators’ visions to life.

We are looking for a Manager, VFX to oversee a slate of Southeast Asia and Chinese Language titles—spanning series and films—from development through final delivery. This role partners closely with content, production, and post teams to elevate VFX quality, operational excellence, and production innovation across the region. You will help shape the strategy, tools, and methodologies that support our creators while ensuring that each project delivers on schedule, within budget, and at Netflix’s high technical and creative standards.

This is an opportunity to influence a fast-growing content region and redefine how VFX is approached at Netflix.

Key Responsibilities

Creative & Technical Leadership

  • Provide early VFX guidance across scripts, treatments, budgets, and pitches.

  • Advise creators and production teams on VFX feasibility, methodology, and workflow planning.

  • Align internal and external partners on creative requirements and technical execution.

Production Execution & Vendor Management

  • Oversee VFX breakdowns, bidding, scheduling, and show health across multiple titles.

  • Evaluate, onboard, and mentor local and regional vendors, studios, supervisors, and emerging talent.

  • Drive consistency in quality, schedule, and budget across SEA & Chinese Language productions.

Innovation, Virtual Production & Emerging Technologies

  • Lead adoption of Virtual Production workflows where appropriate (LED stages, real-time tools, on-set visualization).

  • Identify scalable technologies and workflows that improve creative outcomes or reduce cycle times.

  • Champion data-informed decision-making around budgets, bids, throughput, and production health.

Operational & Strategic Impact

  • Monitor emerging trends, talent developments, and technological shifts in VFX.

  • Lead training, workshops, and industry outreach to elevate regional VFX capabilities in SEA and Chinese-language markets.

  • Strengthen Netflix’s position as a creative and technical leader in the region’s VFX ecosystem.

What We’re Looking For:

Core Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in VFX supervision, production, or management across film, series, or high-end streaming.

  • Proven success managing complex, multi-vendor VFX productions.

  • Experience working across Southeast Asia and/or Chinese-language markets.

  • Fluency in one or more regional languages (Mandarin, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia) preferred.

Technical & Creative Skills

  • Strong understanding of CG, compositing, asset/shot pipelines, on-set VFX supervision, and Virtual Production tools.

  • Ability to give clear, creative feedback while safeguarding the schedule and budget.

  • Knowledge of AI-assisted workflows or emerging production technologies is a strong plus.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communication across creative, technical, and executive teams.

  • Strong problem-solving orientation; thrives in ambiguity.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in fast-paced production environments.

Cultural Values Fit

  • Demonstrates Netflix’s values: independent decision-making, clear communication, inclusivity, curiosity, courage, and high integrity.

  • Comfortable working without a structural hierarchy and navigating global workflows.

  • Passion for elevating creators, empowering local industries, and building sustainable VFX ecosystems.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.
