Job Summary

The Akeso Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary provides essential direct patient care and support to the nursing team within a mental health hospital setting, contributing to a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment for patients.

Job Responsibilities

Assist registered nurses and enrolled nurses with the daily care of patients, including vital sign monitoring, personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance.
Observe and report changes in patient condition, behavior, and mental state to the nursing staff promptly and accurately.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
Support patients with activities of daily living and assist with therapeutic interventions as directed by the nursing team.
Document patient care activities and observations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
Participate in ward meetings and handover reports to ensure continuity of care.
Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, ethical guidelines, and Netcare policies.

Job Qualifications

Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary qualification recognized by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Current and valid registration with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary.
Previous experience in a mental health or psychiatric setting is highly advantageous.
Sound knowledge of basic nursing care principles and patient observation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care.
Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required by the hospital.
Basic computer literacy.
