Job Summary

As an Akeso Enrolled Nurse at Netcare, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care within a mental health setting, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for patients.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, adhering to established care plans and hospital policies.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments, accurately documenting all interventions.
Monitor and observe patients' physical and mental health status, recognizing and reporting changes to the Registered Nurse or medical officer.
Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including observations, care provided, and patient responses.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, promoting independence where appropriate.
Participate in therapeutic activities and group sessions as directed, supporting patients' recovery journey.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
Participate in ward meetings, handovers, and educational sessions.

Qualifications

Enrolled Nurse (EN) qualification recognized by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Current and valid registration with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse.
Previous experience in a mental health or psychiatric setting is highly advantageous.
Demonstrated understanding of mental health nursing principles and practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical nursing practice.
