About this role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a RAD Tech (Casual/PRN), to join our Ortho clinic in Salisbury, Maryland.

The Satellite Radiology Technologist will perform x-ray procedures including fluoroscopic procedures under the direction of a physician with established methods and procedures, is responsible for patient care, proper operation of all general diagnostic equipment.  This position is responsible for the attainment and development of pediatric x-ray films and pediatric patient care on shift to include triaging and assisting in procedures with the Specialty Care and Walk in X-rays. The Satellite Radiology Technologist should report to the Diagnostic Radiology Manager.  

Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours Children’s Health.

  • Responsible for Patient/caregiver interactions and provides accurate preparation instructions to patient/caregiver with the ability to answer pertinent procedural questions.
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging protocols, radiation safety and a working knowledge of all radiology equipment.
  • Responsible for patient identification, proper identification of all images, PACS interaction and documentation.  Operates hospital computer system for patient data entry and retrieval.
  • Must have the ability to work well with others, acts as a team member, positive role model. Ability to work independently and engage in critical thinking to improve the quality of care.
  • Creates a welcoming environment and acts as a patient advocate.
  • Observes, assesses, triages, and takes action on all patients according to protocol.
  • Provides quality patient care.
  • Executes physician x-ray orders for Specialty Care and Walk in X-ray. 
  • Performs, develops, and delivers x-ray films according to protocol.
  • Coordinates x-ray films to be viewed by a radiologist or to be released for follow-up care/call Ordering Provider with STAT reads.  
  • Aids in the training of new personnel and students. 
  • Ensures proper function of equipment by proper usage and maintenance. Reports unsafe conditions and incidents.
  • Regular attendance is required, and this position is considered essential for purposes of staffing during severe weather emergencies and other natural disasters.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and must have reliable transportation
  • Good communication skills are required.  In addition to accepting feedback, asking questions and active communication with counterparts and all departments. 

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited ARRT program required.  
  • Minimum of 3-6 months experience required.
  • ARRT registered required upon hire.
  • State of Maryland Radiology Technologist License required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required within 90 days of hire.
