Nemours is seeking a Program Manager, Public Relations to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Wilmington, DE.

 

Nemours Children’s Health has embarked on a bold strategy to redefine children’s health to create the healthiest generations of children.  This strategy is uniquely intertwined with our new brand designed to articulate how Nemours is advancing the health of children by going ‘well beyond medicine.’

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Public Relations, the Public Relations Manager helps to lead strategic communications across Delaware Valley targeting the media, patients, policymakers, donors and the general public to elevate and manage the reputation of Nemours and its associates. This individual must be a self-starter with a panache for identifying and packaging compelling stories that gain national and regional attention. In addition, this role will help drive thought leadership by supporting Nemours-owned content and securing third-party platform opportunities. The role requires an understanding of how to create and drive key messages through traditional media relations, thought leadership, digital content creation, award nominations and other tactics as identified. The candidate should possess an aptitude for building internal and external relationships, and have an excellent track record in placing stories nationally, in the Philadelphia region, and in Delaware. The program manager’s primary focus will be clinical areas within the hospital, as well as promoting content from the company’s consumer-facing website, Nemours KidsHealth (KidsHealth.org), with the goal of story mining differentiators that can lead to opportunities for national and regional recognition.

This role will be situated within the Public Relations team within the Marketing and Communications Department. This individual would work closely with the social media, internal communications, and marketing teams within the department. It will be based at the communications office near Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. While some remote work is acceptable, the PR Program Manager is required to facilitate all on-site media interviews and PR events.

 

Essential Functions

1.         Employ a keen sense of what ‘makes’ a great story that can influence and educate key audiences including the media, patients, policymakers, donors, and the general public, underscoring Nemours as a leader in pediatric healthcare. 

2.         Experience and track record in promoting healthcare innovation with an understanding of the scientific process, and the ability to effectively cultivate relationships with Nemours researchers, clinicians and other stakeholders to extrapolate the positioning and key differentiators in order to secure national media coverage and thought leadership.   

3.         Possess relationships with the national consumer health media, as well as health and business in Nemours’ key markets in the Delaware Valley. 

4.         Aptitude for strengthening existing and cultivating new relationships with patient and community organizations to grow visibility of Nemours and underscore its thought leadership. 

5.         Experience with placing relevant experts at conferences and speaking opportunities.

6.         Event experience, in-person and virtual formats, across its life cycle including concept, program, promotion, and budget.

7.         Employ public relations strategy to help drive philanthropic and legislative and advocacy initiatives.

8.         Proactively identify issues that may impact the organization’s reputation and work with the director to develop communications plans to mitigate situation.

9.         Create a variety of digital communications products in conjunction with our multimedia and social media teams including but not limited to video content, edited videos for social media, and still photos in accordance with brand standards. 

10.       Write communications materials including press releases, media advisories, blog posts, fact sheets, award nominations and speeches, ensuring each includes timely, accurate information, and key messages.

11.       Experience with media and social media tools such as Cision, TV Eyes, PR Newswire’s Online Newsroom or other similar PR software platforms used daily by the public relations team. 

12.       Possess a willingness to travel locally and to Nemours sites in Florida, and work non-traditional hours, including evenings, and weekends as necessary. 

13.       Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.

 

 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field.  Master’s degree a plus.
