About this role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking an MRI Technologist (Part-Time), to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.

Work Schedule:  T/W/H 3-1130p and every other Saturday 730a-4p. 

The position is responsible for performing Magnetic Resonance studies while providing a quality health care service that includes total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment.  Excellent communication skills are essential to this position due to required continuous interaction with public and professional/medical personnel. 

 

Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations, and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours. 

  • Responsible for working knowledge and operating MRI equipment on Siemens and GE MR Scanners and Advantage windows workstation. 
  • Knowledge of routine magnetic resonance imaging protocols along with performing patient examinations as set forth in the protocol by the designated radiologist. Verifying quality of imaging before submission to radiologists.  
  • Provides accurate room preparation and instructions to patient/family according to the procedure and physically prepares patient for examination which includes explaining the imaging procedure and answering pertinent procedural questions. 
  • Responsible for the preparation, administration, and documentation of contrast media per departmental protocols under the direct supervision of a radiologist/physician. Observes patient for allergic reaction after administration of contrast. Starts IVs and injects contrast material for imaging studies. 
  • Responsible for screening of patients to be imaged for contraindications that may be hazardous to their health or to the safety of others.   
  • Maintains work habits consistent with hospital and departmental policies, reports unsafe conditions and incidents to the immediate supervisor and demonstrates safe work habits.  Operates hospital computer systems for patient data entry and retrieval/order entry and completion of study. 
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care with respect to the appropriate specific chronological age, developmental age or social maturity of the patient. 
  • Must have the ability to work well with others.  Aids in the training of new personnel, students and physicians. 
  • Regular attendance is required, and this position is considered essential for purposes of staffing during severe weather emergencies and other natural disasters. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, must have reliable transportation and must be able to work on an on-call basis. 

Job Requirements:

  • Trade school or college based training required ( i.e. Hospital based program, Associate or Bachelor Degree program, graduate of an accredited MRI program or completion of MRI training program).
  • Must be registered as an MR Technologist with ARRT, ARMIT, or CAMRT.
    OR 
  • Must be ARRT registered and obtain MRI board certification within 18 months of hire.
    OR 
  • Must hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in an allied health field and be certified through ARDMS or NMTCB, with MRI board certification required within 18 months of hire.
    OR 
  • Graduate of an accredited MRI program with  a minimum of 6 months of supervised clinical MRI scanning experience. Must be registry-eligible through ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB and must obtain MRI board certification within  90 days of hire. 

  • Minimum of six (6) months experience required.

  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • State of Delaware Radiation License required within 90 days of hire for anyone holding NMTCB licensure only.
  • Pediatric MRI experience preferred.
