Oncology Pharmacy Specialist - Acute Care

The Pharmacist Specialist - Oncology position will help support our acute care oncology team with opportunities to work in an environment with exposure to adult and pediatric patients with varied oncologic needs.  At Nebraska Medicine, the Oncology Pharmacist Specialist serve as leaders in this specialty area by working closely with medical teams to provide the highest quality of patient care.  Our oncology pharmacy team members are dedicated to continual quality improvement initiatives of the department and organization and engage in the organization’s academic mission by engaging in teaching and precepting of students and residents.

Applicants with the following experience will be given priority consideration: Completion of an Oncology PGY2 or fellowship required OR Completion of a PGY1 plus a minimum of 3 years of experience as an oncology clinical specialist OR Minimum of 5 years of experience as an oncology clinical specialist or equivalent.  Board certification in oncology pharmacy (BCOP) would be expected to be obtained within 12 months of hire date.

Responsibilities: Pharmacist Specialist - Oncology

•             Participation in multi-disciplinary rounding

•             Medication optimization

•             Preceptorship of students, PGY1, and PGY2 level learners

•             Quality initiatives and research in the specialty care area

Provide the highest quality patient care. Supervise pharmacy services in assigned patient care area and ensure all medication related patient and care provider needs are met. Work proactively as a member of a team(s) to ensure the provision of optimal pharmaceutical care. Demonstrate a dedication to continual and constant quality improvement.

Required Qualifications: Pharmacist Specialist - Oncology
• Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program OR possess a Bachelor or Master of pharmacy degree with 10 years of experience required.  
• Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Nebraska or jurisdiction in which pharmacy practice is conducted required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program, as deemed appropriate for patient facing roles and relevant to practice.

Preferred Qualifications: Pharmacist Specialist - Oncology
• American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited postgraduate year one residency preferred. 
• Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) certification as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice preferred.
