An Associate Product Designer is an entry-level role that focuses on learning the foundational aspects of product design. In this position, designers assist senior team members with tasks such as creating wireframes, prototypes, and basic user flows. They are introduced to design tools like Figma and begin contributing to design systems under guidance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, and associates will participate in user research, gaining insights into customer needs while building their own skills.

The goal at this stage is to learn how to apply feedback, manage small assignments, and improve communication skills. Associates work closely with more experienced designers and developers to ensure their designs are functional and meet user needs. This role serves as a stepping stone, providing hands-on experience while building the confidence to take on more responsibility in future roles.


 

Essential Functions: 

  • Communication Excellence: Learn to communicate clearly within your team, asking questions and explaining design decisions. Begin developing an understanding of how to present your work to peers and stakeholders. 

  • Curiosity and Empathy: Assist in understanding customer needs by participating in user research. Begin building empathy for users by observing how they interact with products and asking thoughtful questions. 

  • Healthy Design Collaboration: Work closely with senior designers and cross-functional teams, actively contributing to brainstorming sessions. Learn to share your ideas openly and seek feedback from others. 

  • Real-world Product Design Experience: Work on smaller, clearly scoped tasks, such as wireframes and mockups. Gain familiarity with tools like Figma and design systems, contributing to asset libraries under guidance. 

  • Effective Work Management: Manage basic tasks and assignments, ensuring that deadlines are met. Adapt to feedback and prioritize accordingly. 

  • Software Development Literacy: Learn the basics of Agile workflows and how design fits into product development cycles. 

  • Data Literacy: Begin exploring how data and user feedback influence design. Work with senior designers to interpret findings and refine your designs. 

  • Proactive Problem Solving: Assist in creating simple user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that address basic user needs, with guidance from senior designers. 

  • Leadership in UX Standards: Participate in design critiques, learning to give and receive feedback on interface design and user experience. 

  • Design Support: Support the team by contributing to smaller presentations or assisting in gathering feedback on design work. 

  • Leverage AI and machine learning capabilities to enhance product decision-making, identify customer behavior patterns, forecast trends, and uncover unmet needs.

  • Apply AI-powered analytics to validate product assumptions, track adoption, and surface opportunities for improvement.

  • Collaborate with engineering to explore and integrate AI/ML features that add value to the customer experience while staying informed on emerging technologies and their potential application across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications:

Requirements: 

  • Undergraduate Degree in User Experience Design or a strongly related degree or combination education and relevant real world experience 

  • Experience with modern design and research tools 

  • A portfolio that demonstrates foundational skills in visual and interaction design, highlighting relevant academic projects or internships 

Desired:   

  • Experience working in Banking or Fintech   

  • Experience working in SAAS (Software as a service)  

  • Experience working with MUI Design System (Material UI Components)

The pay range for this role is based on relative market data and alignment with our compensation philosophy. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum of the pay range for each job posting, which is used to determine new hire rates/salaries and takes into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, proficiencies, experience, education, licensures/certifications, as well as business and organizational needs. nCino reserves the right to modify the posted range consistent with our internal practices and external market movement. The recruiter for this job posting can share more compensation details during the recruitment process, as base salary is only one component of the total compensation package per position posted.

The base salary range for this job is:

$64,500.00 - $106,500.00
