Job Description

The NBCUniversal Creative Group is seeking a Production Director to lead and evolve our production function across platforms. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Production Director is responsible for overseeing production systems, staff, and workflows while managing the business operations of production. This role serves as the senior authority for production strategy, vendor partnerships, budgets, and delivery, and acts as a key advisor to creative teams, ensuring innovative, efficient, and high-quality execution across all projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the production team, including staffing, resource allocation, performance development, and day-to-day operations
  • Own and optimize production systems, workflows, and processes to ensure efficiency, scalability, and consistency across projects
  • Oversee the business side of production, including project budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and financial accountability
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, freelancers, and production partners, negotiating scopes, rates as needed
  • Ensure all production timelines, deadlines, and deliverables are met, including final file delivery to publications, platforms, and internal or external vendors
  • Serve as a senior production resource and subject-matter expert, proactively advising creative teams on best practices, feasibility, and innovative production solutions
  • Collaborate closely with the Account/Strategy team, Art Directors, Comms, and cross-functional partners to align production strategies with creative vision and business goals
  • Proactively communicate production insights, risks, and opportunities to leadership, helping guide departmental planning and decision-making
  • Stay current on industry trends, tools, and technologies, sharing knowledge to continuously elevate production quality and capabilities across the department

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in production, with demonstrated leadership at a senior or director level
  • Proven experience managing production teams, workflows, and operational systems in a fast-paced creative environment
  • Exceptional expertise working with external vendors, production partners, and freelancers, including rate negotiation
  • Expertise in production budgeting and forecasting, with a track record of delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Deep understanding of multi-platform production processes and file delivery requirements
  • Ability to serve as a strategic production advisor, translating creative vision into practical, innovative and executable solutions

  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, influence and collaborate across creative and business teams
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate risks, identify opportunities and proactively guide the team toward effective solutions
  • Proven leadership presence with experience communication production strategy and insights to senior stakeholders

This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
