Job Description Summary:


 

Oversees the onboarding process and the initial and ongoing competency and educational development of the Allied Health Practitioner staff in Neonatology.


 

Job Description:


 

Essential Functions:

  • Supports and fosters academic partnerships through the coordination of preceptorships for all neonatal provider students.
  • Coordinates and offers formal education and training through proctored skills reviews, in-services, lectures, preceptor training, and other continuing education opportunities for neonatal advanced practice providers.
  • Promotes professional development, role transition, integration, and initial and ongoing competency for all neonatal AHPs and other providers caring for neonates.
  • Engages in and promotes research, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and scholarship.
  • Serves as a liaison with internal and external education, safety, and evidence-based committees to ensure congruency and currency.
  • Assists with compiling quality and safety metrics for neonatal AHPs including Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).


Education Requirement:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field, required.
  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice, preferred.


Licensure Requirement:

Licensed as an AHP in the State of Ohio, required.


Certifications:

Certification as an AHP in the State of Ohio, required.


Skills:

  • Educational leadership skill in curriculum design and implementation at the organizational level.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods for various types of learners, including classroom teaching competency and group facilitation skills.
  • Effective communication skills for relating to all levels of personnel and disciplines.
  • Leadership ability as demonstrated by high level of initiative, decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Competency in neonatal AHP clinical practice and professional development.


Experience:

Experience with national educational, professional and/or accrediting organizations (such as ANCC, NDNQI, NNSDO, SPN), required.
