Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 plans.

Conduct assessments of motor, visual-motor, and sensory-motor skills for students referred for special education evaluation to help determine eligibility for services.  

Participate in the IEP/Section 504 process, providing input on assessment measures, intervention strategies, and student progress.

Collaborate as a member of the special education team to deliver comprehensive services to students with disabilities.

Consult with teachers, school administrators, parents, and relevant stakeholders regarding students’ physical, motor, and sensory development.

Work closely with teachers to integrate occupational therapy goals into the classroom environment and support classroom objectives through therapy programs.

Provide training to relevant individuals on effective methods to assist students in mainstream settings.

Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust occupational therapy interventions in collaboration with school staff and parents.

Utilize treatment strategies involving physical, sensory, manual, creative, and recreational activities to support student development.

Design adaptive equipment and devices for individual students and classroom use.

Maintain an accurate record of student caseload requirements and update the Special Education Administrator on any changes.

Maintain a detailed schedule and service logs, and track student progress toward therapy goals.

Demonstrate professionalism in handling confidential matters and materials.

Pursue ongoing professional development to stay informed about current practices and research in occupational therapy.

Participate in school initiatives such as screening programs to support student development.

Attend parent-teacher meetings as needed to discuss student progress and therapy plans.

Perform other job related duties as assigned by the building   principal

 

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree

American Occupational Therapy License
